A Friend of God

I really enjoy reading Daily Devotionals.  They really help me start off my day and put things into perspective for me.  Joyce Meyer’s are particularly insightful for me.  God really spoke to me through the devotional for today:

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your marvelous works and wonderful deeds!
—Psalm 9:1
 
Instead of talking to God only about our problems, we need to talk to Him about Him. We need to talk to Him about Who He is, about the power of His name, the power of the blood of His Son Jesus, and the great things we know that He can perform and has already performed. After we have praised and worshiped Him in this way, then we can begin to mention the problem. I would not like it if my children only came to talk to me when they had problems—I want them to fellowship with me. I can think of a few people right now who only call me when they have problems, and it hurts me. I feel that they don’t really care about me, but only what they want me to do for them.I am sure you have experienced this and feel the same way. These people may call themselves friends, but in reality they are not. Friends are for times of trouble, but that is not all they are for. As a friend, we need to show appreciation and spend time encouraging those we are in relationship with. We must avoid being the type of people who are what I call “takers.” Those who always take but never give. I want to be the friend of God. He called Abraham His friend, and I want that also. The Lord is not just my problem solver, He is my everything, and I appreciate Him more than I know how to say.

Since I’ve been “getting lost” in my TV shows lately, I decided to make a list of my top 10 favorite fictional couples.  My top 10 are from TV shows, movies and books.  None of these couples are perfect, but hey, who is?

The Great Escape

Do you ever just like to get lost in something?  To take your mind off of your own reality?

Maybe you like to get lost in a good book, a long drive or go for a run.

I love to get lost in what I consider good TV shows.  One of my all time favorites is Felicity.  

It is seriously one of the best written shows that has been on TV in the past 10 years.  It’s dramatic, intelligent and has some great acting.  I started watching the show when it premiered in 1998 on the WB. I was completely obsessed with Felicity and Dawson’s Creek.  I had forgotten until recently how much I loved Felicity and decided to invest in all four seasons so I could watch it anytime I wanted.

The show follows Felicity through her four years at college in New York.  It documents her crazy experiences, friends and of course the love triangle with her, Ben and Noel.  I look back on this show now and remember thinking this is what I thought college was going to be like.  For the most part, I had a completely different college experience than this show portrays, but it was also a different time.  I love it though, and I miss college.

Here Goes Nothing…

So I’ve decided to start blogging.  I enjoy writing and I think this will be a great outlet for me to get my many thoughts out of my head.

How beautiful is the picture that I chose as my blog template?  It shows how God chooses to wow us daily with the beauty that is nature.  He is good.  It’s scenes like this beautiful nature scene that make me love Him more and more daily.
